About the Journal


1. Aim and scope

Can Tho University Journal of Science (CTUJS), ISSN 2615-9422, is an international double-blind peer-reviewed journal that publishes original and high quality research articles and review articles in multi-disciplines.

The aim of the Journal is to be a key source of research articles to provide scientific research results of Can Tho University in particular, and domestic and foreign scientific research projects in general, contributing to promoting scientific research and technology transfer.

The scopes of the Journal include, but not limited to, the following topic areas:
1. Natural Sciences, Technology and Environment;
2. Agriculture, Fisheries and Biotechnology;
3. Social Sciences, Humanities and Education;
4. Economics and Law, etc.

The submitted papers have not been earlier published in any other journal and are not being considered for publication elsewhere.

CTUJS is committed to publishing seriously reviewed and high quality papers that is accessible to researchers from a wide range of disciplines.

2. Frequency

CTUJS publishes articles continuously, accordingly, the Journal published articles when the final copy-edited version is approved by the Editor-in-Chief.

The Journal collates papers into archival volume and issues. Each year, the Journal publishes electronic and print versions with one volume and three issues per volume every four months in March, July, and November.

Note: The change from Vol. 54, No. 8 (in 2018) to Vol. 11, No. 1, (in 2019):

- CTUJS, ISSN 1859-2333, publishes 9 issues including 6 in Vietnamese and 3 in English per year.

- In 2018, we included both Vietnamese and English issues in one volume (volume 54). So, the three English issues were numbered Vol. 54, No. 2 (published in March); Vol. 54 No. 5 (published in July); Vol. 54 No. 8 (published in November) together with 6 Vietnamese issues [54(1), 54(3), 54(4), 54(6), 54(7), 54(9)].

- When the English journal has been granted a separate ISSN 2615-9422 in 2019, we split Vietnamese and English volumes into different journals. From 2015 to 2018, we published 10 volumes of English journal, therefore, in 2019, the English volume was consecutively numbered 11. That is the change from Vol. 54, No. 8 (in 2018) to Vol. 11, No. 1 (in 2019).

3. Open access policy

CTUJS provides immediate open access to its published articles to the public, to broaden opportunities for high quality research findings to be available and widely disseminated with free of charge, contributing to the greater exchange of knowledge.

Open access statement: CTUJS permits everyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the published articles without registration, price barriers, or asking for permission from the Journal or the author.

4. Editorial ethics

CTUJS and its editors are fully committed to ethical publication practice to support the development of ethical publication practice in the scholarly publishing community. CTUJS acts in accordance with the guidelines and standards developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). CTUJS adheres to COPE’s Core Practices, Best Practices Guidelines for Journal Editors and Guidelines on Good Publication Practices.

5. Copyright notice

All articles published by CTUJS are licensed under the Creative Common Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. This permits anyone to copy, redistribute, remix, transmit and adapt the work provided the original work and source is appropriately cited, in other words, an acknowledgement of the work’s authorship and initial publication in CTUJS is recorded.

6. Privacy statement

The users’ information entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

7. Submission fees

Submission fees: 1,500,000 VND (or 65 USD).

8. Peer Review Process

CTUJS follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. The identities of the reviewers are not disclosed to the authors, and vice versa. To be published in CTUJS, all submitted manuscripts must undergo preliminary screening by editors, anonymous assessment by independent reviewers of expertise, revisions by manuscript authors, followed by a final acceptance decision by the Editor-in-Chief.

Manuscript submission

The corresponding author submits the manuscript to the Journal via the online system at the website: ctujs.ctu.edu.vn. The author is not encouraged to send the paper through email.

Preliminary screening and plagiarism check

The Journal editors check whether the manuscript fits the scope and adheres the guidelines of the Journal.

The manuscript is passed through plagiarism check by iThenticate software to ensure that it does not contain unauthorized version of other authors’ work.

If it passes initial assessment, a section editor is assigned to handle the review process. In this step, the section editor has the option to reject the manuscript if it is not a good fit for the Journal or does not have a considerable quality.

Recommendation of peer-reviewers

The section editor appoints two peer-reviewers of the relevant field for evaluating the manuscript. CTUJS follows a double-blind review process, then the identities of the reviewers are not disclosed to the authors, and vice versa.

The review is conducted with one of the recommendations including manuscript acceptance, minor revisions, major revisions, resubmission for review, resubmission elsewhere, or manuscript rejection.

Review assessment

After considering the reviewers’ assessment and recommendation, the section editor will make one of the following decisions: manuscript acceptance, revisions required, or manuscript rejection.

Revisions

The author is required to revise the manuscript responding to comments of reviewers and section editor. The revision should also be accompanied by a point-by-point response to reviewers explaining how the manuscript has been changed. All changes should be highlighted.

Final decision

After considering the referees’ recommendation, the author’s revisions, and section editor’s report, the editorial board is able to make a final decision on the manuscript. When all editorial issues are resolved, the manuscript will be formally accepted for publication. Then, it is edited, typeset, and published sequentially.
